As working parents, we know you’re always on the lookout for school holiday activities in Singapore that are fun yet educational—and that’s a good thing.
After all, the folks at UNESCO say that educational programmes build children’s cognitive, language, and numeracy foundations, support physical and motor development, and prepare them for academic success.
From My Little Pony adventures to Christmas wreath making, read on for five family-friendly activities to enjoy while you learn.
1. My Little Pony at Floral Fantasy
There’s a reason this entry tops the list—apart from the obvious of seeing our favourite ponies prance around the stunning floral wonderland that is the Gardens by the Bay.
Bronies and their families can enjoy a colourful, magical day painting tree ornaments, braiding hair tassels, and catching an adorable My Little Pony performance.
As you partake in the school holiday activities, grab the opportunity to teach the little ones about friendship, kindness and cooperation, great for personal growth and development.
For NTUC members, we suggest getting the exclusive NTUC Member Bundle at the ticketing counters. On top of the admission, the package includes a two-way shuttle to ensure the kids and seniors won’t be tired before they get to the main event.
Adults and seniors need only pay $12 (usual price $15), while seniors and kids tickets cost just $8 (usual price $11). Don’t forget to pay with your NTUC Link credit/debit card by Trust to enjoy the promo.

2. Christmas Clay Wreath Workshop
Forget the usual faux pine Christmas wreath, why not shake things up with a clay version? Even better, create your own with the fam at White Canvas Studio in 229A Upper Thomson Road.
In this three-hour festive workshop, the kiddos can put their fine motor skills to good use by sculpting a central clay figurine and gorgeous miniature decorations on a wooden wreath frame.
Sculpting also encourages problem-solving, planning, and spatial awareness as children imagine and construct shapes. And in case you’re wondering, this activity is perfect for kids aged five and up.
With friendly guidance from experienced instructors for this year-end holiday idea, we’re sure you’ll create something door-worthy.
But you better hurry, the workshop is happening on Tuesday, 23 December, from 10.30am to 1.30pm. NTUC members pay $75 (usual price $80), worth it for the wooden frame, clay decorations, and sculpting tools alone. Merry Clay-mas!

3. The Magic Attic: Magic Show Experience
Children and a magic show? That’s a no brainer as far as things to do with kids in Singapore go. Now add a hidden attic location into the mix, and you have an element of mystery that literally and figuratively pulls rabbits out of hats.
Step into Singapore’s most elusive magic theatre tucked behind a seemingly normal landed house at 3 Lorong Salleh.
Get thrilled by close-up tricks before the real magic happens in the secret attic, including awe-inspiring illusions, mysterious mind-reading, interactive moments, and sleight of hand faster than you can say, “Abracadabra!”.
While The Magic Attic has five different shows, we suggest the interactive 45-minute Kidabra Family Show designed for the young and young-at-heart. The kids will love participating in the colourful tricks that will spark their imagination.
Book your tickets for the first Sunday of the month at 3pm. At $31 for NTUC members (usual price $35) for the admission and pre-show refreshments, it’s quite a spellbinding deal.

What’s more delicious than eating sweet, juicy prawns? Catching the prawns yourself then grilling them on the spot as an educational activity with the children.
The aptly named PrawnzManiac over at 60 Pasir Ris Drive 3 shells out hours of fun with the young ones. The sheltered pond environment ensures comfort in all weather conditions, great for the wet spells we’ve been having.
Apart from guiding them on using the rods and bait, there’s plenty of time for some teachable moments about what prawns are and how they contribute to the ocean ecosystem.
Best of all, you can fire up your catch of the day on the provided grill. Don’t forget to bring your favourite dipping sauces to enhance the experience. Yum!
For NTUC members, the price of $36 (usual price $38) is for one parent and one child below 12, inclusive of two rods, bait and net. Choose between a one- or two-hour session.

Your favourite Escape Room experience just got a “beary” good Hollywood makeover! Lockdown Escape at #03-149 Marina Square unleashes three exciting year-end holiday ideas from your favourite wizarding world, zombie apocalypse and Mad Hatter’s tea party.
In Bearry Potter 2, you and your young apprentices must find out who’s been keeping dangerous beasts in the wizarding school. All we can say is: You’ll need more than brandishing your wand and saying, “Appare Vestigium!” to escape from the dangers that lie ahead.
For something more thrilling, try Bearsident Evil. Put your brains together as a family to uncover the last known antibody capable of reversing the zombification process. Will you survive the task of breaking into the facility to retrieve the precious vaccine?
More game for Alice in Bearryland? When your survival is tied to games, you’ll need all your family members’ wits and wisdom to beat the King of Hearts at his own game in a deserted city.
If you’re reading this, you’ll already know that Escape Room adventures can help to build your children’s observation, communication, and critical thinking skills. Hopefully, the kiddos will translate these skills into their studies.
While a single NTUC member pays $98 (usual price $108), you can receive a voucher code to offset the entry fees for four persons. The adventures are suitable for kids aged seven and up.
